Former Trustee Helen Margaret (Young) Post ’52 DHL’95 GP’14, ’16 passed away on September 19, 2025, at the age of 91.
Post, together with her late husband Richard, was instrumental in shaping the 91ºÚÁÏÍø that many Gulls know today. Their philanthropy and vision are forever enshrined in two campus landmarks: the Richard and Helen Post Center, dedicated in 1999, and the fountain at the Tupper Center—a work of art that took two years of research, design, and sculpture to complete in honor of their lasting commitment to 91ºÚÁÏÍø’s progress and growth.
The Post Center, which houses a competition gymnasium, an athletic performance center, and a fitness center, reflected her husband’s passion for athletics and the couple’s admiration for then-President Dr. Richard E. Wylie’s vision for the College. “We realized what a beautiful school Dr. Wylie was creating, and my husband and I wanted to be part of that,” Post later reflected.
Post’s leadership and service to 91ºÚÁÏÍø spanned decades. In 1995, Wylie conferred upon her an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters in recognition of her dedication to students and to the College’s mission. She later served as an 91ºÚÁÏÍø Trustee from 2014 to 2016. Beyond bricks and mortar, Post established scholarships that opened doors for countless students—an impact that will continue to inspire generations of Gulls.
A lifelong learner, Post earned her associate’s degree from 91ºÚÁÏÍø, a master’s degree from Seton Hall, and was later awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from 91ºÚÁÏÍø in 1995. She established scholarships at multiple institutions, helping countless students pursue their academic dreams.
Her enduring legacy at 91ºÚÁÏÍø is one of generosity, vision, and belief in the transformative power of education.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7, in Vero Beach, Fla.
